Threads of Unity is a flagship national movement by the Briatoshs Crochet Community (BCC) dedicated to connecting 10,000 crocheters across 800 cities through creativity, collaboration, and community spirit.
The initiative provides a common platform where crochet enthusiasts can learn, share skills, preserve traditional craftsmanship, and build meaningful relationships. Every stitch represents connection, every crochet hook symbolizes empowerment, and every member contributes to a stronger handmade movement across India.
Through regular chapter meet-ups, collaborative projects, exhibitions, workshops, social initiatives, and community engagement, Threads of Unity aims to become India’s largest crochet network.

Guinness World Records Goal
Upon successfully reaching 10,000 registered members, Briatoshs Crochet Community will initiate an attempt to achieve a Guinness World Records title through a large-scale collaborative crochet initiative, showcasing India’s unity, creativity, and craftsmanship on the global stage.

First Meet-up Report : CP, Delhi Chapter | 5-8-2026
The inaugural Threads of Unity meet-up was successfully held on 5 August 2026, from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 PM at Cafe Coffee Day, B-Block, Connaught Place, New Delhi.
The session began with a warm welcome and introduction of all participants, followed by the distribution of Rangoli Arte Yarn, generously sponsored by Ganga Acrowools Ltd. Each participant received yarn to begin a common crochet project, symbolizing unity and creativity.
A total of 11 crocheters enthusiastically participated in the meet-up. Together, they started crocheting mufflers, sharing techniques, learning from one another, and strengthening friendships through their shared passion for crochet.
The event reflected the true spirit of Threads of Unity—bringing
crocheters together to connect, create, inspire, and empower each
other in a friendly and respectful environment.

The enthusiasm shown by the participants marks a promising beginning toward the vision of connecting 800 cities, empowering 10,000 crocheters, building one community, and ultimately striving for a Guinness World Records milestone.

As our Threads of Unity community continues to grow, participants were divided into two groups for focused learning and creative development, using Ganga Hobby India Yarn.
30 New Members have joined the Threads of Unity community this week - .Lace Square
The new members explored the beautiful Lace Square, a delicate crochet motif known for its openwork texture and intricate lace-like appearance. Participants learned the technique step by step and experienced how simple stitches can come together to create an elegant square motif.
Existing 28 old member Group – Special Crocheter Mela Jacket
The existing group began creating a special jacket for Crocheter Mela, designed exclusively for the upcoming celebration. The jacket features original crochet stitches created by Dr Babita Biswas, making it a unique community project. Each crafter is contributing their own stitches and creativity to bring this special wearable piece to life

A Little History Behind Lace Crochet
Lace crochet developed in 19th-century Ireland, inspired by the delicate and expensive Venetian lace of Europe. Irish women adapted these intricate designs using a crochet hook and fine thread, making lace faster and more affordable.
During the Great Irish Famine in the 1840s, Irish crochet became an important cottage industry, providing much-needed income to thousands of families. Separate floral and geometric motifs were often joined with fine crochet mesh, eventually developing into beautiful lace squares, panels and garments.
Today, lace crochet continues to evolve—with modern colours, stitches and square designs—while carrying this beautiful heritage forward.
Threads of Togetherness – The Special Crochet Jacket
A special handmade jacket created exclusively to celebrate International Crochet Day 2026 and the spirit of Threads of Togetherness.
This unique design is being crocheted by 28 talented crocheters, coming together as one creative community. The jacket features an original crochet stitch personally designed and developed by Dr. Babita Biswas, making the piece truly distinctive and exclusive to this celebration.
More than a garment, this jacket represents 28 hands, one design, one creative vision and the collective spirit of crochet. Each crocheter contributes their skill and time to bring this special creation to life.
The finished jacket will be presented as a symbol of creativity, craftsmanship, collaboration and togetherness, celebrating the beauty of handmade crochet and the community that keeps this timeless art alive.

Fifth Meet-up: CP, Delhi Chapter | 1 & 2 Sept 2026
Tuesday Delhi Chapter : 1.8.26
As the Wednesday Delhi Chapter reached full capacity, the growing enthusiasm for crochet inspired us to open a new Tuesday Delhi Chapter—creating another opportunity for crocheters to come together, learn, and connect.
Today, we proudly welcomed 26 new members to the Threads of Unity family. As a warm welcome, each new member received yarn, and the group was introduced to the beautiful Lace Square pattern using Ganga Hobby India Yarn.
The enthusiasm was wonderful, and the members thoroughly enjoyed learning and creating their first Lace Square together.

Wednesday Delhi Chapter Grows! : 2.8.26
As our community continues to grow rapidly, we have now divided the Wednesday Delhi Chapter into two batches to ensure a better learning and crocheting experience.
This week, 4 new members joined each batch, while 56 existing members from both batches came together to enjoy their crochet sessions.
Batch 1: Creating a beautiful Lace Square Cap.
Batch 2: Creating a special jeans jacket featuring “Triple Picot Crown Stitch” — an original crochet stitch created by Dr. Babita Biswas.
Both groups are preparing these special creations to wear during the celebration of International Crochet Day on 12th September 2026.
